If you're like me, you're probably sick of hearing about the Oscars. If you’re not like me, you’re probably STILL sick of hearing about the Oscars, so Instead of talking about the wins, losses, after parties, and other extravagant wastes of time, I thought I’d share a funny Oscar themed video.
This particular video comes from The Dana Carvey Show circa 1997 staring Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert (two personal favorites). Although not culturally sensitive by any stretch of the imagination, I still hope you enjoy this video:
This series of funny videos revolves around the recent Boston bomb scare. What caused the scare? A guerilla marketing campaign for Cartoon Network’s show Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The marketing effort involved putting up numerous lite-brite style devices depicting two cartoon characters around various cities. The following video shows these light up advertisements being placed:
Pretty harmless right? Wrong!
These light up devices were thought to be bombs, and caused a major disruption in Boston. The two culprits, from the above video, were involved in a hilarious press conference where they were advised to not talk about the incident. So, they talked about what anyone in their right mind would talk about…. 70’s hairstyles. Check it:
Best press conference ever !
The guerilla Marketing firm hired by Cartoon Network, Interference Inc. (a perfect company name), has this to say on their homepage:
We at Interference, Inc. regret that our efforts on behalf of our client contributed to the disruption in Boston and certainly apologize to anyone who endured any hardship as a result. Nothing undertaken by our firm was in any way intended to cause anxiety, fear or discomfort to anyone. We are working with Turner Broadcasting and appropriate law enforcement and municipal authorities to provide information as requested and take other appropriate actions.
I’ve got two words for Turner Broadcasting::
Mission Accomplished
Since this whole bomb scare started, searches for “aqua teen hunger force” and “cartoon network” have increased by over 900%! Now that’s return on investment!
So did authorities just overreact? Watch this video and see for yourself:
